RUMOUR: Nintendo might rename Wii U

Posted By | On 26th, Jan. 2012

After E3 2011, one of the biggest complaints fans had with Nintendo was that they had named their new console very stupidly- let’s face it. Wii U is a very stupid name. I understand they want to retain the super successful Wii brand, but come on. Wii U? Seriously?

According to recent rumours, however, Nintendo is looking at the possibility of renaming and rebranding their upcoming next gen home console. This is definitely in light of what happened with the 3DS. Many potential buyers were confused as to whether it was a new system or just an upgraded version of the DS, even causing Nintendo to launch an entire campaign addressing just this concern.

According to the aforementioned rumour, the new name is set to be revealed before E3 this year.

Earlier, Nintendo confirmed that the Wii U would be released before Christmas this year in all regions.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt, we will have more info on this issue soon.

Thanks, CVG.
