It was reported in late February that Saber Interactive was on the verge of buying back its independence from parent company Embracer Group to go independent in a deal worth $500 million, and it recent developments have indicated that that deal is edging closer to completion.

As caught by @lejooon on Twitter, Saber Interactive recently made some notable changes to its website, removing all mentions of Embracer Group. Previously, the words “an Embracer Group company” were displayed beneath Saber Interactive’s logo on its website, while the company was also described as “one of the key operative business units of Embracer Group”. Both mentions, among others, have now been scrapped from the website.

Previously, it was reported that Saber Interactive’s deal would see the former also bringing along other subsidiaries – specifically, the studios under the Saber Interactive label – and that Saber would continue to work on the troubled Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake project.

Whether the changes to Saber’s website indicate that the deal has been finalized (or is close to being finalized) remains to be seen, but if that is indeed the case, an announcement could be imminent.

It has also been reported that Borderlands developer Gearbox Entertainment is also set to leave the Embracer Group, with that deal set to be announced in March.
