Surrounded by megaton releases like Baldur’s Gate 3, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, Starfield, and more, you’d think that there wouldn’t be much oxygen left in the room for a new indie game, but Sabotage Studio’s retro RPG Sea of Stars has been high on most-anticipated lists for years now, and excitement surrounding its imminent release is continuing to mount.

Ahead of its launch, Sabotage Studio has released a new trailer for the game, which reveals a fourth, new playable character. Joining previously revealed heroes lunar monk Valere, solar blade dancer Zale, and warrior cook Garl is Serai, the portal assassin. Armed with twin blades, she can create portals and hope in and out of them to take enemies by surprise.

The trailer showcases her unique abilities in action during combat, while also continuing to show off the game’s gorgeous art style, a variety of locations, various enemies and bosses, and ancillary gameplay systems, like cooking meals. Check it out below.

Sea of Stars will launch on August 29 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and will be Steam Deck Verified at launch. A demo of the game is available on all platforms. Sabotage Studio has also confirmed that the game will get a physical launch in early 2024.
