Lord Isshin is the man who taught Emma everything she knows, so it makes sense that the fight against him feels like a tougher version of the one with the gentle blade. He’s faster and more difficult to read, while he can also cover distances with deadly pace, making it not very ideal to want to back away to heal, just like it is in the Emma fight.
