Since it launched on Nintendo Switch in 2021, there have been rumors and anticipation for Shin Megami Tensei 5 on other platforms. It’s finally happening with Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, launching this Summer for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC (along with Switch).

However, more than just an enhanced version with improved visuals on other platforms, it also features new content. There are new demons to collect, a new form for the Nahobino and new antagonists. Players can also opt for a new story route, Canon of Vengeance, for which producer Shinjiro Takata promises 75 additional hours of gameplay.

Speaking to GameSpot, he said, “This time, we went in with the goal of taking a new direction for Vengeance, compared to just making a high-spec version of previous titles. We focused on making this the best Shin Megami Tensei 5 by carefully improving the system based on much of player feedback while focusing on adding new elements.”

Takata also reiterated that the story of Vengeance gradually “begins to change from the original route and will unfold completely differently starting from the middle of the story.” Of course, you can still choose the base game’s route from the outset.

Director Shiego Komori noted that it’s “a tale of revenge based on Atlus’ own interpretation of the relationship between the Bull God and the Snake God that exists in various parts of the world…We believe that we were able to express a different kind of order and chaos in the relationship.”

Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance launches on June 14th worldwide. Those who attend Atlus Fes on June 8th and 9th can go hands-on with a demo (with Metaphor: ReFantazio also playable). Check out the most recent trailer here.
