Shovel Knight 2

Shovel Knight is, without a doubt, one of the best games released this year, and one of the best examples of what indie games can do. When it launched on PC, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS earlier this year, it made waves, and the developers went on the record, talking about the game’s sales, and how very happy they were with its performance.

Now, we finally have a number to put to their words, as they just confirmed today that the game has broken 300,000 copies sold across all platforms worldwide. ‘300,000 copies sold! That’s a lot of Knights!’ they tweeted, adding a note of thanks to everyone who had bought the game.

Shovel Knight was an incredible masterpiece of tightly integrated mechanics, great level design, and fine tuned controls- it harkened back to the best of the NES era, while being a thoroughly competent and modern product on its own. It’s great to see it achieve all of this success, and here’s to many hundreds of thousands more sold.
