With Silent Hill f, Silent Hill: Townfall, and the Silent Hill 2 remake waiting in the wings, fans of Konami’s survival horror franchise finally have quite a bit to look forward to. But of course, another project that the company has greenlit as part of its Silent Hill revival is Silent Hill: Ascension, a real-time interactive streaming series that’s due out this year.

But what exactly can we expect from the series and how it’ll work. Taking recently to Twitter, Jacon Navok – CEO of Silent Hill: Ascension studio Genvid Entertainment – offered up new details on the streaming series, confirming that each stream in the series will be tied to a decision by the players/viewers that will affect the story’s outcome, with the schedule for streams set to go live “a bit before” the series is ready to go live.

According to Navok, those logging in once a day will be able to “see every decision available for the next 24 hours”, while some “super important” one will also be shown well in advance. Decisions will primarily be made by real-time viewers/players through QTEs, though those unable to login every day will also be able to influence the story’s outcome by participating in community puzzles, which can be played at your own pace. Meanwhile, all previous streams will also be archived, so you’ll be able to catch up if you’ve missed out on a previous stream.

Navok also confirmed that “what if” mini-seasons will also air once the series has gone through its first run. In these seasons, the community decisions for the original run – which will be considered canon – will be blocked out, and the audience will be able to make different decisions to unlock different outcomes.

Silent Hill: Ascension is expected to go live later this year. A specific release date hasn’t yet been announced.
