Yesterday, Sonic 2017 was revealed to be Sonic Forces– it’s a brand new 3D Sonic game coming to us from the same development team that delivered Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations (also known as the only two good 3D Sonic games ever, so there’s hope here). Today, we have brand new footage of this title, showing us the gameplay for the very first time.

Now, remember, there are supposed to be three gameplay modes in this game – Classic, for old school Sonic fans; Modern, for 3D Sonic fans; and a third, unnamed one – this trailer focuses only on the Modern Sonic gameplay. It shows off a world in which Eggman has all but won the fight against Sonic and his friends, though naturally, Sonic isn’t giving up yet. The gameplay looks promising, although I do hope that the game won’t take itself too seriously.

Sonic Forces is due out on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC this Holiday season.
