This year promises to be a big one for Sonic fans- first, we’re getting Sonic Mania, a return to the kind of old school 2D Sonic goodness that made the series so big to begin with. Then, later this year, we’re going to be getting a brand new 3D Sonic game, about which we don’t actually know a whole lot, except that it’s by the development team that helmed Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations (meaning we have reason to be confident it’ll at least be good).
And we’ll be getting the chance to learn more about both games soon- Sega has announced it will host an official Sonic the Hedgehog panel at SXSW 2017 on March 15th, at 6:00 PM EST. The panel will include new reveals for both Sonic Mania and Project Sonic 2017. The panel include Aaron Webber and Mike Pollock of Sega, voice actor Roger Craig Smith, and Sonic Team’s Takashi Iizuka, and they will reveal new information about both these games, in addition to also answering questions.
Sounds good to me. I just hope one of those reveals is also the release date. Sonic Mania and Sonic 2017 will both launch on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC this year.
