Featuring new modes and characters.

At their Sonic panel at SXSW panel today, Sega confirmed that Sonic Mania, which launched last year on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC digitally, will be getting a digital release later this year. It will be called Sonic Mania Plus, and it will come with two new playable characters, a new game mode, an expanded four player competition mode, and special holographic packaging.

As for the two new characters, they will include Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel; all of this will result in the physical version of the game being more expensive than the digital one. Where the digital version was only $20, the physical one will cost $30 instead.

That said, if you got the digital version, you still get all the new features available to you at a reduced price as DLC- so there is that, at least. Meanwhile, the physical version of the game is set to launch this Summer. Sonic Mania is available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
