My heart breaks at the fact that this is a thing- one of Sonic Mania‘s biggest strengths is the ability to surprise, whether it is by subverting your expectations as you get comfortable at the sight of something familiar, or by throwing something entirely new at you. It can do that because the player legitimately has no idea of what to expect.
So if you take that away- maybe by looking up a video walkthrough for the game- then, man, you’re taking away so much of what makes the game special. But fine- you’re allowed to decide how you want to play your game, after all. If this is how you think you will best enjoy it, then so be it.
