With RIME not hitting the Switch until after it has launched on other systems, a lot of Nintendo fans have grown wary of third party port announcements- what if this becomes a trend, and third party games don’t hit Switch until well after they are available on other systems?
However, it looks like Sega will be doing its best to avoid that. Nintendo World Report recently got a chance to discuss the game with SEGA’s Aaron Weber, who reiterated that Sonic Mania will be available on the Nintendo Switch at the same time as on other platforms. He also discussed the question of price – there has been speculation lately that Switch games may often cost more than their Xbox or PlayStation counterparts, owing to cartridges being more expensive – noting that Sega is looking to make it the same cost as on other systems, though he did note that this is not a final, formal announcement just yet.
So there you have it, Nintendo fans- Sonic Mania, at least, will be available on Switch day and date, and for hopefully the same price as on other systems, too. Maybe the RIME case was an aberration?
