For any competitive gaming hardware to survive under such harsh market conditions, improvements need to be  made consistently. Sony are currently working on further improving PlayStation’s SDK, tools and applications so that developers can make the best possible games.

According to a job listing on PlayStation’s official website, the PlayStation research and development team are looking for an engineer who will learn the ins and outs of the PlayStation SDK and help developers understand how they can utilize its full potential. The candidate will also work on new features for the platform with past examples including improvements to PlayStation Network SDK along with companion devices and Cloud services.

The listing also lets us know that the R&D team is committed to innovation and 10% of the engineer’s time will be dedicated to learning new technology and building sample prototypes. Another job listing for a Software Engineer indicates that Sony are working on a new suite of multimedia applications. The candidate will need to think about implementation of new elements, or improvements to the application.
