Gran Turismo’s been on a bit of a downhill slide lately- the PSP version was delayed for years, and when it finally hit, it was massively disappointing. It was a similar story with Gran Turismo 5 on the PlayStation 3, which missed multiple deadlines, and then launched as an incomplete game that came as a disappointment to most people. Gran Turismo 6, released on PS3 late last year, did hit its promised release date, but was disappointing nonetheless.

That hasn’t stopped Sony from promising the world with the next installment of the game. At the PlayStation Experience, Polyphony Digital Community Manager Eric Fishback promised that the next Gran Turismo game would be the best one:

“What you can expect from Gran Turismo on the PlayStation 4, which is the strongest console ever, is the best Gran Turismo you can imagine.”

Well, you have a bit of a road to climb now there, dude. The best Gran Turismo game it might be, but in a post Forza world, will it also be the best game in its genre like Gran Turismo once used to be?
