Splatoon 2 Amibo and Starter Edition Announced

Don't get cooked, stay off the hook.

Nintendo has announced some new merchandize and SKUs for its popular multiplayer shooter Splatoon 2, that should keep the game moving to new buyers in the coming month. The first announcement, geared at existing fans of the title, is that of Amiibo for Pearl and Marina, the two announcers for the game, and lead singers for the Off the Hook band.

The Amiibo will be available together, although for now, their in game function has not been confirmed; that said, to the legions of fans that Splatoon 2 has, that should hardly matter.

If you haven’t jumped on board the Splatoon 2 train already, Nintendo has made a second announcement- Splatoon 2: Starter Edition, which comes with a copy of the game, its strategy guide, and two colorful sticker sheets, all for just $60. Clearly, this is the place to jump into the game, if you haven’t already.

Splatoon 2 launched last year exclusively on the Nintendo Switch, and has seen absolutely superlative post launch support since then, for absolutely free– truly, this is games-as-a-service done right.
