Splatoon 2 Update 1.1.2 Now Available, Introduces Some Weapon Balance Changes

Keeping things fresh in Inkopolis.

Splatoon 2 launched last week, but it looks like Nintendo has already released a new balance patch for the game. Update 1.1.2 released last night (after an unexpected period of online play outage, I might add), and it seems to have made a fair few changes to the game.

The changes include a change in the number of points needed to fill up the Special gauge of certain weapons, as well as changes to SpatNet, which is the companion app for the game. SplatNet had certain issues with displaying the player’s records for the last few games they had played, as well as issues with ordering gear and clothing – while you could do that just fine, it seems like the game failed to acknowledge that you had. The patch fixes that.

You can get the full specifics of the changes made by this new patch for yourself below. Splatoon 2 is available now exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.

  • An occasionally occurring issue allowed players to receive gear from the SplatNet Gear Shop with an unintended combination of gear abilities. The combination of abilities for this type of gear has been changed to match those of gear available for purchase in the Inkopolis Square shops.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented ranking information from displaying properly when viewing “Past Records” for League Battle.
  • Adjusted the number of points required to fill the special gauge for the following weapons:
    Weapon Before ⇒ After
    Splat Dualies 180 ⇒ 170
    Hero Dualie Replicas 180 ⇒ 170
    Enperry Splat Dualies 180 ⇒ 170
    Tentatek Splattershot 190 ⇒ 210
    N-ZAP ’85 180 ⇒ 200
    .96 Gal 180 ⇒ 210
    Slosher 180 ⇒ 190
    Hero Slosher Replica 180 ⇒ 190
    Tri-Slosher 180 ⇒ 210
    Mini Splatling 180 ⇒ 190
