In 2021, 1047 Games’ indie multiplayer shooter Splitgate turned into a viral sensation overnight courtesy of its blend of Halo and Portal gameplay and aesthetics, and the studio has now announced a full-fledged sequel. After confirming in 2022 that it had started working on a follow-up and teasing it as recently as earlier this week, 1047 Games formally announced Splitgate 2. Check out its cinematic reveal trailer below.
Built on Unreal Engine 5, Splitgate 2 is being billed as a AAA evolution of its indie predecessor. The multiplayer 4v4 shooter will once again ask players to put their shooting and portal skills to the test, customize their weapons to suit their tastes and needs, and align with one of multiple factions, each giving players unique abilities.
Splitgate 2 is currently targeting a 2025 release, but doesn’t yet have a specific launch date. Upon release, the game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
