The First “Mature” Star Wars Game

Though developer promises are often hard to believe, LucasArts has claimed that 1313 will be the first “mature” Star Wars game; an interesting prospect indeed. The idea that KOTOR and the Force Unleashed weren’t “mature” by comparison makes me wonder what kind of things will be introduced into 1313 to back up this bold notion but, either way, it should make for an interesting and hopefully original Star Wars experience.

A Mysterious Hero

Looking moody and mysterious will apparently get you everywhere

Despite having a well animated main protagonist in the gameplay trailers, the main hero shown in the 1313 tech demo has been identified as a place-holder character who will be replaced in the full game. There’s no real concrete information on who this mysterious hero will be but, given that the game’s title references one of Boba Fett’s aliases, it could be that you wind up playing everyone’s favourite bounty hunter (or at least someone associated with him). Either way, this could open up awesome gameplay opportunities if any of Fett’s awesome gadgets make it into 1313.

Partner/Mentor

Expect the mentor character to become a co-op favourite, as everyone just loves to play as the smart ass

The mysterious place-holder hero of 1313 was accompanied by just one character throughout the demos; a partner or mentor type figure who spurred the protagonist along. Whilst he may not show up in any other playable sections and could just be an AI helper when he does appear, it’s worth taking into account the potential for some kind of co-operative elements. Co-op campaigns have proved wildly successful in various shooters over the years, so we can only hope LucasArts will follow in the footsteps of its genre predecessors and include a co-op mode of some kind.
