Star Wars Battlefront 2 More Details Arrive- Space Battles, Local Co-op, 40 Player Multiplayer, and More

Star Wars Battlefront 2 was announced with a pretty exciting trailer earlier today. The trailer, while gorgeous and showcasing a rather intriguing story for the single player campaign, didn’t actually tell us much about what to expect from the sequel, however. Now, we finally have more details on what this new game will encompass.

For starters, the campaign will follow the story of Commander Iden Versio, leader of the Galactic Empire’s elite special forces unit, Inferno Squad, and her odyssey in the aftermath of the fall of the Galactic Empire. Considering that the original game didn’t even have a campaign, this is already a major step up. The campaign this time is written by Walt Williams (who wrote Spec Ops: The Line, one of the most acclaimed games for its writing ever), and Mitch Dyer of IGN.

The game will also cover all three eras of Star Wars– Original Trilogy, Prequel Era, and Sequel Trilogy. Famous characters from each era, including Luke Skywalker, Kylo Ren, Yoda, Darth Maul, and Rey, are all going to be playable in the game too. The characters won’t be timebound either- which means Rey vs Darth Maul is absolutely a matchup that can happen.

That apart, space battles will be making a return in this game, the console version will have local offline co-op, each hero, trooper, and starfighter will be fully customizable, multiplayer will allow for up to 40 players at once, and the game will have a variety of locales, including Starkiller Base, Theed, Takodana, Mos Eisley, Endor, and Hoth.

In other words? It sounds like EA and DICE are going all out with this game, and holding nothing back. If they play their cards right, this could be as content rich and packed as the original Star Wars Battlefront 2 was. Let’s hope they don’t mess it up. Star Wars Battlefront 2 will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 17 this year.
