Super Mario Odyssey Gets An Utterly Amazing Musical Video

It's a live action musical!

Super Mario Odyssey is going to be the next Mario game, which is a momentous occasion for the industry to begin with- but this one is extra special, because it is going back to the exploration oriented sandbox platforming roots that Super Mario 64 pioneered to begin with, while also adding some brand new spins to the series’ longstanding formula.

The result is one of the most exciting, freshest looking games we have seen in a very long time- and Nintendo have decided to throw caution to the winds, and celebrate it with what might be the best ad for a game I have ever seen. It is… a live action musical, set to the tune of the song Jump Up Super Star (another series first), spliced with footage of the game (and people playing it), demonstrating the new platforming, sandbox, and possession mechanics the game will have.

It’s absolutely fantastic. I really think this is the best advertisement the game could have gotten. You can check out the new video for yourself below. Super Mario Odyssey launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on October 27.
