Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey, which already swept the Best of E3 awards earlier this year after its superlative debut at that show, has gone ahead and claimed multiple awards at Gamescom too, including the vaunted ‘Best of Show’ and ‘Most Wanted’ awards.

Super Mario Odyssey managed to win the most awards in general- in addition to these, it also won the Best Switch Game, Best Family Game, and Best Action Game categories. It is especially impressive because no other game won more than one award.

Other highlights include Forza 7 beating Gran Turismo Sport for Best Racing Game (Project CARS 2 took away the Best Simulation Game category), Ni no Kuni 2 getting the Best RPG shout, Metroid: Samus Returns winning Best Mobile Game, Mario+Rabbids winning Best Strategy Game, Destiny 2 winning Best Multiplayer, and Xbox One X winning Best Hardware.
