The untold story behind the Land of Shadow will unfold when FromSoftware's expansion for Elden Ring launches on June 21st.
The long-anticipated open world action RPG expansion is set to launch in a month's time for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree seems enticing and is looming right over the horizon, but will the team be able to deliver its biggest expansion to date?
However, players will still have to make some hard decisions over the course of the expansion, according to director Hidetaka Miyazaki.
However, FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki does reaffirm that Shadow of the Erdtree is the first and last expansion for the game.

With this feature, we will be taking a look at Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice all these years later and break down why it remains such a great time.
"It’s something like an Attack Power separate from existing levels that are only effective within the DLC area,“ said director Hidetaka Miyazaki.
"We’re able to understand quickly what we want to make and [are] able to make these decisions early on in development," says Hidetaka Miyazaki.
"I think if we do that, I’d like to step away from that supervisory role and give them full direction and full control over those projects," the Elden Ring director says.

Director Hidetaka Miyazaki also confirmed new weapons like a "dueling shield that combines offense and defense" and a Daito.
"Armored Core 6 was a success. On the other hand, not everything was perfect, and there is still room to make it better, so I have no intention of stopping there," says Hidetaka Miyazaki.
"Even if it's not the complete end of the story, I think this DLC will be a big break," says director Hidetaka Miyazaki.
"It does make me very happy to see that there are still so many people passionate about it," said FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki.
The narrative is from "one part of the original mythos", says director Hidetaka Miyazaki, and isn't "brand new" or specific to the expansion.
The expansion also features poisoned swamps, though director Hidetaka Miyazaki says players may feel a bit of "retrospection" with them.
FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki also confirms eight new weapon categories in addition to new weapons, armor and skills.
The action RPG launched in February 2022 and sold 20.5 million units as of May 2023. It's available for Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
The Collector's Edition includes a physical art book, digital soundtrack and an 18-inch statue of Messmer the Impaler, the new boss.
