Other games coming to the subscription service are Neva, Season: A Letter tot he Future, and Echoes of the End: Enhanced Edition.

Shortly after its recent State of Play showcase, Sony has revealed updates to its PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for the month of February. As part of this, a number of AAA titles will be available through the subscription service. Headlining the offerings this month will be Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Echoes of the End: Enhanced Edition for PS5. These new additions will be available starting on February 17th.

PS4 offerings will also see expansion, with the addition of Monster Hunter Stories (PS4) and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin (PS4) just a month before the release of Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. Other games coming to the subscription service are racing game Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown (PS5), narrative action adventure games Neva (PS5) and Season: A Letter to the Future (PS4, PS5), indie title Venba (PS5), and sports game Rugby 25 (PS4, PS5). These games will be available for PlayStation Extra and Premium tier subscribers. The PlayStation Classics catalog will see the addition of Disney Pixar Wall-E (PS4, PS5), which was originally released on PS2 in 2008.

Along with this, Sony has also confirmed new additions to its PlayStation Plus Classics catalog for next month. The line-up, only available to Premium tier subscribers, includes PSP fighting game Tekken Dark Resurrection, and PlayStation classic rail shooter Time Crisis, as caught by Gematsu.

This announcement comes just a few days after rumors first popped up of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 coming to the subscription service. The 2023 action-adventure title revolves around Peter Parker and Miles Morales taking on a host of new foes from Spider-Man’s rogues’ gallery. A key element of the story is the presence of the Symbiote.

While Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 coming to the service makes sense given its 2023 release date, Monster Hunter Stories and its sequel coming to PlayStation Plus is especially interesting since the third game in the turn-based RPG franchise is slated for release on March 13th.

While the Stories series has largely focused on telling their own standalone stories (no pun intended), they tend to have a throughline in the form of their combat systems that blend the traditional Monster Hunter gameplay loop with turn-based action with an emphasis on befriending monsters as well as fighting them.

For those looking to check out Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection before release, a demo was released earlier this month offering some early-game sections. Capcom has also confirmed that players will be able to carry over their progress into the full game when it finally comes out.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection also got a trailer earlier this week, offering an overview of the story and the history of the Riders. The trailer features narration by Elizabeth Rose Bloodblame of Hololive English, and focuses quite a bit on the bonds between Riders and their Monsties (Monster Besties). Along with the wide roster of monsters that the series is known for, Stories 3 will also feature newer ones from Monster Hunter Wilds, like Rey Dau and Arkveld. Among the returning monsters, Monster Hunters 2‘s Yama Tsukami has also been confirmed for the game.

Scavengers Studio’s adventure title Season: A Letter to the Future has been making waves for a while now, having been first announced back in 2020. Earlier this year, the game reemerged with new gameplay footage, though shortly afterward, the developer confirmed that it had been pushed back from its Fall 2022 launch to a release sometime in Q1 of 2023. Now, a specific release date has been confirmed for the game.

Season: A Letter to the Future will be available for PlayStation and PC in January to kick the year off. The game will see players stepping into the shoes of a young woman who leaves the confines of her secluded village to explore the wider world, hoping to record, document, and photograph as much of it, its history, its culture, and its people as she can before an impending cataclysm wipes it all away. Check out its release date trailer below to get a few glimpses of the game.

Scavengers Studio has announced that it is prioritising the wellbeing of its staff, and hence has to delay Season: A Letter to the Future.

Season: A Letter to the Future has been delayed. Originally set for a fall 2022 release window, developer Scavengers Studio has announced that it has been pushed back to Q1 2023.

Scavengers Studio announced the delay through a lengthy post on Twitter. The studio cites the desire to push for higher quality without sacrificing the wellbeing of its staff as the reason for the delay.

“We want to ensure that we are able to push for quality without it affecting the wellbeing of our team,” says the statement. “Season has always been a labor of love for the team and this additional time will let us polish and refine the game to make it the special experience we set out for it to be.”

Season: A Letter to the Future was originally announced back in 2020.
Season: A Letter to the Future's trailer at the State of Play showcases exploration and more alongside a release window of Fall 2022.

Sony’s latest State of Play has been a packed one, to say the least, from new details on Horizon: Call of the Mountain to the announcement of the Resident Evil 4 remake, among several other things. But even amongst the barrage of heavy-hitting AAA titles, fans got to see new details on upcoming indie games- including but not limited to Season: A Letter to the Future. Check out the trailer down below.

Developer Scavenger’s upcoming adventure game Season: A Letter to the Future, first announced back in 2020, seems to be one that’s focused on exploration, as players assume the role of a woman on a quest to “record the Season” before a mysterious cataclysm washes it away from existence. There are NPCs to talk to, story-altering decisions to make, artifacts to collect, and more as you explore this beautiful world on a trusty bicycle.

Season: A Letter to the Future releases for PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PS4, and PS5 sometime this fall.

Scavengers Studio's Kevin Sullivan says it's "in between" Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Journey.

While the PS5 has big-name games like God of War 2 and Horizon Forbidden West to look forward to, there are also titles like Solar Ash and Stray en route. Add Scavengers Studios’ Season to the list – the exploration title premiered at The Game Awards 2020 and immediately won us over with its aesthetic and atmosphere. In a recent interview with IGN, creative director Kevin Sullivan offered a few more details on how the game plays out.

The trailer indicated that one would explore the world, collecting artifacts and making memories over the course of a season before a strange disaster wipes out everything. Sullivan noted comparisons to other titles, at least in terms of gameplay. “When I’m reading the YouTube comments, people seem to either think that it’s like Breath of the Wild, or that it’s like Journey. And it’s in between.” Season isn’t “linear or that strict” like Journey though. “It’s not a AAA open-world game and it’s also not a corridor art game. It’s in between.”

He also dispelled the belief that Season would be a walking simulator. “I guess I’d say, given that we made The Darwin Project, we have a lot of gameplay-oriented developers on the project. It’s not going to be a walking simulator – as much as I love those games where there’s no gameplay.” Time will tell exactly how the gameplay shakes out but for now, fans are digging the game’s comfy vibe.

Season is currently in development for PS5 and PC. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months along with a possible release date announcement.

While it’s always fun to get the big AAA title trailers and reveals, it’s also nice to get those for the smaller indie titles as well. At The Game Awards 2020 we got a few of those, but none stand out quite as much as Season, a very interesting game that seems to be going for a very specific feel.

The premiere trailer, which you can see in full below, shows a young woman on a bike as she goes to various different places. The trailer isn’t super clear as to what is going on or what you do, but it looks quite nice. The game’s Steam page popped up afterward and gives a few more details. You are going to various areas on the midst of a great, looming disaster. It’s not explicitly clear what you do gameplay-wise, but it says that you are there to collect and record history, not to change it.

Season will release for both PlayStation 5 and PC, but as of now there is no time frame for when to expect it.

What's it like directing The Hunger Games? Darwin Project strives to answer that.

Scavengers Studio’s Darwin Project, a survival game where the director plays as much of a role as the players, is now available for Steam Early Access on PC and Game Preview for Xbox One. The newest trailer highlights exactly what the director does, which is restrict areas, throw gifts at players or make life harder for them. Check it out below.

Other features include the ability to place a bounty on a player’s head and reveal his location to everyone, thus creating a manhunt. The director can also change the gravity in the arena. Which feature allows for overtly loud shout-casting like the E3 2017 reveal? Well, the director can speak to other players so that’s also possible.

Along with making the game available on Early Access, Scavengers Studio has also given it away free to those who played the alpha or beta. There’s no update on when the full game releases but stay tuned for more information.
