Street Fighter: Legacy
Hollywood have tried their hands at the Street Fighter universe on multiple occasions, with each film being even worse than the last. The costumes could do with a bit of work but, for an indie title, Street Fighter: Legacy has some incredible acting and action choreography. The use of classic moves and stances from the games also shows an attention to detail and subtlety that only the fans can inject into a project such as this.
MegaMan
Many great fan film projects have been axed due to copyright disputes with publishers, a fate that this MegaMan movie managed to avoid by squaring things up with Capcom before production. What it may lack in technical proficiency, the film absolutely makes up for with its care and obvious passion. It may be cheesy but, as one of the few examples of a quality feature length fan film, it is just what every MegaMan fan wants.
Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy
With a game series as cinematic as Metal Gear Solid, a fan film needs to be at the top of its game in order to cut the mustard. It’s a tall order, but one that Hive Division were able to deliver in Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy. The trailer above shows off the excellent set design and costumes, but the rest of the package all comes together as well.
