It’s been a long time coming, but it will finally be happening- Hollywood star Michael Fassbender, known most recently for his role as Magento in the X-Men movies, has confirmed that the Assassin’s Creed film adaptation of Ubisoft’s mega hit game franchise will begin production officially this September.
“You say it’s a long time but what I’ve found– it’s all new to me but starting to develop scripts and work on them, they take time,” Fassbender told ComingSoon.net, speaking specifically about the numerous delays the film project has suffered. “It just takes time to get a good story together and we really want to do it right. It’s exciting. It’s going to start this year, we’ll be filming in September.”
This is good news, as it means it is finally getting off the ground soon, and that we should be able to see it playing in theaters as early as the back half of next year.
Now whether or not the movie is actually any good, and manages to buck the trend of movies based on video games universally being awful, remains to be seen.
