I always felt that the Dead Island series has some pretty awesome coop mechanics that you and your friend would enjoy for hours at an end. With coop initiated this playground becomes a hilarious but a deadly adventure. You can go from swiping a zombie on the head or cutting it in half by yourself,  but bring in a friend and all chaos and drama ensues, but there is lots of fun to be had.
