The Evil Within Inspirations & Audio Design Revealed in New Videos

Retreat to your happy place. The Evil Within is coming.

Adam Sessler recently sat down with Tango Gameworks’ Shinji Mikami to talk about the inspirations behind The Evil Within, the upcoming survival horror game.

While it’s really neat to find out small things that aren’t about the game, but actually influenced the game in their own way. Skip forward to 5:16 for some insight into the enemy character called Laura, which reminds me of the Irish Banshee tale. Or even of Silent Hill, if you want to go there instead.

We’re also treated to a sit down with Shuichi Kobori and Ippei Shiraki, the soundtrack and sound design developers respectively. We all know that sound is key in video games, but none more so than in horror titles.

The Evil Within has all the signs of a great game with fantastic visual design, great inspirations and audio as mentioned in the videos above. You’ll get to find out how much you like it yourself on October 14th when it launches on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC.
