Given how flooded the market is with multiplayer shooters, any new release in the genre is going to have a tough time finding sustained success. While it remains to be seen whether Embark Studios’ upcoming THE FINALS will be able to break through that barrier, early indications certainly seem positive for the game.
An open beta of the shooter was recently live for over a week, and it seems it was a pretty widely played one. Taking to Twitter, Embark Studios revealed that the beta was played by 7.5 million players. The developer says it’s now focused on working on “all the fixes and improvements” that players helped identify during the beta period.
THE FINALS is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. There’s no word on a specific release date for the multiplayer shooter yet.
Embark Studios is currently also working on PvPvE shooter ARC Raiders, which also doesn’t have a release date.
