The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild Director Stumped By Wii U Gamepad

We hope it's also a breath of fresh air

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was recently showcased at E3. However, even that game’s director seems to be confounded by the Wii U’s gamepad. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s director Eji Aonuma told Wired that the Wii U Gamepad “actually disrupts the gameplay, and the concentration that the…player may be experiencing.”

Nintendo didn’t get many pats on the back for its bizarre control back in 2012. Their poor decision-making with the Wii U certainly reflects in sales figures. Thankfully, at least as far as Breath of the Wild is concerned, players can opt for a more conventional experience with the Wii U Pro Controller.

Breath of the Wild is also slated for release on the Nintendo NX console, which, sadly, was a no-show at E3 this year. Aonuma claims that Breath of the Wild will be largely the same experience on both the Wii U and the NX, which can either be a good thing, or a bad thing depending on how you’re looking at it.
