The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Gets New Screenshot Hinting At The Return Of A Beloved Character

Will his loyalty program be returning, too?

The newest screenshot for Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has a rather intriguing detail- it seems to hint that Beedle, the quirky merchant from The Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, and Skyward Sword, may actually be returning in Breath of the Wild, too. The new screenshot shows off a slapdash structure that Link is approaching, while a suspiciously familiar looking feather approaches it from the left.

This, along with Hyrule’s generally decrepit post apocalyptic state, and the appearance of the Koroks in the game, seems to indicate that Breath of the Wild may be set in the Wind Waker branch of the Zelda timeline- possibly after the Great Sea dried away? If so, Breath of the Wild would be the first true follow up to Wind Waker.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is due out on Nintendo Switch and Wii U this year. Rumors peg its Japanese and North American release date for March this year, right alongside the Switch launch, although there seems to be less clarity regarding the game’s European launch.
