These days, Nintendo’s first party titles are pretty much always guaranteed to sell well, which is doubly true for The Legend of Zelda games, and even more so thanks to the popularity of the Switch. However, it seems like the recently released The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening might be selling better than many would have expected.
Over on Twitter, known industry insider Benji is reporting that Link’s Awakening’s day 1 sales have surpassed the day 1 sales of Super Mario Maker 2. That in and of itself for multiple reasons. For starters, outselling a Mario game is not an easy task, especially for a top-down Zelda title, which is a remake no less. Benji also reports that Link’s Awakening has become Nintendo’s biggest launch of 2019 so far- though with Pokemon Sword and Shield on the horizon, it probably won’t have that crown for long.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is out on, exclusively for the Switch. Our review of the game will be going up soon, so stay tuned.
Wow
Zelda Link's Awakening Day 1 is looking to be bigger than Mario Maker 2 Day 1 in sell through in the US. Marking the biggest Nintendo launch of 2019 to date
Incredible, seeing a top down Zelda game perform like this. Breath of the Wild has given a franchise wide boost pic.twitter.com/TnRp5kMqoM
