The Legend of Zelda Netflix Series Apparently Under Works By Castlevania Series Producer – Rumor

The bigger question, however, is, will Link still be a silent protagonist?

It seems like there may have been some truth to the rumors regarding the Zelda Netflix series reports that were circulating a while ago. Rumors are now stating that Adi Shankar, the producer of the Netflix Castlevania animated series, is currently working on a new Legend of Zelda series for the streaming service.

This news is coming to us courtesy of The Wrap, who also point out that Shankar himself posted on Monday that he is working on “an iconic Japanese games franchise” on Instagram. The announcement for this series will be coming on November 16, so one way or the other, we will know then for sure whether or not it is happening.

Castlevania was actually remarkably well received for a video game adaptation, so there are hopes that Zelda could be similarly well handled by Shankar. There are, of course, larger issues with trying to adapt Zelda—Link is a silent protagonist, and any adaptation either has to work with that, or risk losing the spirit of the original games. It’s also unclear whether or not this series would be animated, or if it would follow the same format as the Castlevania series did.

One thing is clear, Zelda has never been more popular than it is right now, so if these rumors are true, then Nintendo and Netflix are striking the iron when it is hot.
