The Legend of Zelda as a series has been pretty much synonymous with delays for as long as anyone can remember, and sure enough, the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom hasn’t been able to launch when Nintendo had initially hoped it would. That said, earlier this year, the Japanese publisher confirmed that the megaton sequel would be out in May 2023, and new developments suggest that those plans may be on track.

The Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) has rated The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, handing it an E10+ rating with mentions of “fantasy violence” and “mild suggestive themes”. The classification hasn’t yet been published on the ESRB’s own website, but the aforementioned age rating is now being displayed on the game’s eShop page. You can check out a screencap below.

The rating is significant, of course, because classifications generally tend to happen for games when they’re approaching release in the near future- which should allay some worries about another potential delay for the game. Of course, that’s by no means a guarantee, especially when it comes to Nintendo (and especially when it comes to Zelda)- but hey, it’s something.

Earlier this year, the game was also rated by the Game Ratings and Administration Committee (GRAC) in South Korea.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is scheduled to launch for the Nintendo Switch on May 12.
