Nintendo unveiled the final pre-launch trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom last week, which, combined with the gameplay demonstration last month, has been the biggest drop of new information we’ve had on the game. Beyond that, smaller details have also been emerging from other sources– which is what we’ve got here as well.

While Tears of the Kingdom will several familiar characters from Breath of the Wild – such as longtime series villain Ganondorf, who will be voiced by Matt Mercer – it will, of course, also feature its own set of new characters in well. A couple of them, it seems, have been glimpsed by fans thanks to their images being shown on the Japanese download card for game (via @Kirbtastic16 on Twitter).

Interestingly enough, both of these characters were very briefly glimpsed in the game’s last trailer, though there’s no concrete word yet on who they are. Fans are theorizing that they belong to the ancient Zonai race, which was referenced on occasion in Breath of the Wild and thought to be extinct, though we’re unlikely to get the answer to that question before the game itself launches.

Meanwhile, Nintendo has also confirmed that when the game kicks off, players will find themselves on one of the mysterious Sky Islands, rather than on the surface world of Hyrule. Read more on that through here.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is due out for the Nintendo Switch on May 12.
