Tomb Raider (2013)

Tomb Raider 2013 was a great reboot, the game did everything right about trying to explain the origins of the beautiful Lara Croft. Being an origin story, the whole point of the game was trying to emphasize how Lara becomes into a hardened warrior. And to do that she endures some pretty brutal stuff, from being shot at, thrown all over the place and what-not. Now in one of the many death scenes, Lara gets impaled by a giant spike and the screen just fades into black. It’s not your traditional game over screens, but it still is quite brutal.
