The Next Zelda Game Is Coming Sooner Than Expected – Report

And it might not be something like Triforce Heroes, either.

Arguably the greatest game ever made is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game ended up striking a chord with millions of people worldwide, and while, a year on, it still manages to surprise us, there are many who are probably now waiting to see how the Zelda game follows up on this masterpiece.

We’ve known that development on the next Zelda game is underway for a while now, but that doesn’t tell us anything about the time frame—Zelda games have historically had very long development cycles, but there have been some quick turnarounds, like with Majora’s Mask, which came two years after Ocarina of Time. So, when is the next Zelda game coming?

Sooner than we might expect, according to Game Informer editor Imran Khan. Speaking on latest Game Informer podcast, which you can see embedded for yourself below, Khan said, “I was just thinking what I should say about that. The next Zelda will probably be sooner than we think… I will talk to you guys off camera about stuff.”

Which is a hell of a tease to drop randomly out of nowhere. But wait! Maybe the next Zelda game in this case could be like a small scale co-op game like Triforce Heroes, built by the same development team? To which Khan’s response was “Not exactly.”

Very intriguing. What does it mean? Is a Breath of the Wild follow up right around the corner? We don’t know, but hopefully it is, and Nintendo announces it soon. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, meanwhile, is out now, exclusively on Nintendo Switch and Wii U.
