Deck13’s science fiction take on the Dark Souls inspired formula, The Surge 2, is scheduled to come out this year. What we’ve seen from the game definitely looks like a decent step up from the first, which itself was generally well-received. Now we’ve got some more gameplay footage of the game, showing off some of the new features, and some that are familiar.

You can look at the over 11 minutes of gameplay footage via Rock Paper Shotgun below. In it, you see the familiar limb targeting and dismemberment system from the first game, the forest setting that’s part of the larger world, and new enemies including a giant ‘living’ statue that switches up how they attack based on what part of their bodies you target and destroy first.

The Surge 2 is scheduled to release this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can read up on the game’s possible length here in the mean time.
