Poland based games publication Witchersite recently published a massive hands on impressions of the PlayStation 4 and PC version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hint. The preview clocks in over 58000 words and consists a wealth of information about the PC and PlayStation 4 version of the game. We have decided to include some technical details about the PS4 version from that article, but we highly recommend you to check the entire article out.

The entire translation was done by user gregksi and can be found at CD Projek’s forums. The original impressions of the PC version were written by Witchersite’s REGIS and the PS4 version by Lukas77PL.

The author believes that it’s hard to define the graphical settings on the console and that both the PS4 and Xbox One versions look identical. There are moments in the game where the author felt like the developers had to make some compromises but there are times that the game will visually blow you away.

The armor of the characters are extremely detailed with light reflexes; small shimmering metal elements; realistic material textures like leather, wood, metal or cloth fabric. The game looks great during exploration but at times the world’s objects do not load such as vegetation. The draw distance is massive and the water looks awesome.

The author also mentioned that the game does not suffer from noticeable frame rate drops but the game is still being optimized as the studio representative confirmed that there is a lot to fix and not everything is working as it should.

However, the larger locations had same frame rate drops but only during specific moments with texture pop in issues kicking in during the transition from cutscene to quick action. The author also witnessed a few bugs but nothing major. The game is fully playable on the PS4 and is fairly optimized but would need a little more development time to get it in order.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release on the PS4, Xbox One and PC this May.
