3. Minecraft Classic
Minecraft is one of those indie games that has somehow taken the gaming industry by complete storm. I don't mean to imply that this isn't deserved, but it's sheer level of popularity is uncanny. There is one problem with Mojang's retro themed free roamer, however: You have to pay for it. Enter Minecraft Classic, a free version, albeit one without item crafting and enemies. It might not be the full experience, but it's a great way to try this indie hit and fun enough in its own right.
