Top 10 PC Franchises That Need To Be Raised From Their Graves

7. Broken Sword

What other games kick off with a murdering clown?

Though Lucas Arts are often seen as the pioneers within the point and click adventure genre, there were many other classic PC adventure franchises that deserve our respect. One such series was Broken Sword, a collection that, despite not innovating within the genre, excelled in all areas. With vivid visuals, great wit and some fiendish puzzles, the Broken Sword games have always been a hit with the PC audience. The games carried on for a while, even crossing over to consoles throughout their merry development, but we haven’t heard much of George Stobbart since 2006’s The Angel of Death. Let’s hope more of the knights templar adventures crop up sometime soon.

6. Theme Hospital/Park

Few other games give me such a warm and fuzzy feeling

The Theme game series offered up simulations of very tedious business management jobs that were made oddly enjoyable by the games’ simple mechanics and quirky humour. Theme Park had more games under its belt and more mass appeal, but the connoisseur is well aware that Theme Hospital was the superior game. Both would be welcome if they were to make a return though, and I’m sure the gaming populace would love to have another go at treating patients with overly bloated heads.

5. Lucas Arts’ Point and Clicks

Not many titles have such an engaging and surrealist art style

Granted, a lot of the classic Lucas Arts franchises have seen remakes and continuations over the past few years. Yet, for all the Monkey Island Special Editions and new Sam and Max episodes, there are a lot of great Lucas Arts games that haven’t had their deserved revival. Though there are legions I could reel off that are equally deserving, Grim Fandango stands out in my mind as one of the true games that needs a sequel. It had such a creative and lush game world, I’d give almost anything to be able to explore more of it.

4. System Shock

Bioshock wsa nice and all, but I would rather have had System Shock 3

Yeah we have Bioshock, but it’s not really quite the same. Blending FPS, RPG and overt survival horror elements together, System Shock was a real cult favourite on PC. System Shock 2 furthered the formula, cementing its place as one of the best PC games ever made. I can’t wait for the Bioshock series to run out of steam in a way, if only that System Shock may get that elusive third instalment.
