Top 10 PC Franchises That Need To Be Raised From Their Graves

3. Star Wars: X Wing

It doesn't look it now, but this was the Crysis of its day

Why these games fell off the radar is a mystery. With great graphics (for the time obviously) and a faithful recreation of everyone’s X-Wing and TIE Fighter piloting fantasies, this game series had it all. The level of polish is seldom seen in movie tie-ins, and Star Wars games of all genres have these games to compete with as a benchmark. Remake rumours have been circling around the hallowed corners of the net for some time, but we all know a true sequel would be much more satisfying.

2. Half-Life

Will we ever see that elusive third instalment?

We all know that there will be more Half-Life in some shape or form in the near future, though I’m starting to lose a little bit of faith. With Valve investing so much time into other projects like Portal 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Dota 2, I’m wondering if the momentum behind the adventures of Gordon Freeman are beginning to run dry. It’s been nearly four years since we got Episode 2 and, having been left on a cliffhanger, it’s about damn time we got some closure. Make it happen Valve.

1. Baldur’s Gate

The graphics are hard to stomach nowadays, but you truly stop caring once you get into the story

No game deserves a revival quite like Baldur’s Gate. The story, mechanics and depth it offered were unlike anything ever seen before. When you got the expansion packs and sequel involved, there were also few franchises that have ever offered up so much content. Its age is beginning to show though, so a Baldur’s Gate made with today’s hardware would round off the only major issue I hold with this mammoth title. You know it deserves a third game.

There are too many great PC franchises out of action to list them all here, so let us know your personal choices in the comments.
