Shovel knight
Originally funded through kickstarter, before receiving critical praise, shovel Knight is an amazing homage to the games of old, while simultaneously bringing new and exciting elements to the table. The games evil knights can be bested in a couple of hours, but the challenge is real. Jumping, dashing, and digging through levels remains consistently fun and remains a fantastic way to spend an evening. With the game constantly being expanded and built upon, there is always more to look forward to with this indie darling.
