Utilising UE5’s Lumen global illumination system, its hardware ray tracing, and visual effects tool Niagara has allowed Layers of Fear developer Bloober Team to flex their creative muscles for this remake in ways that simply weren’t possible first time around. Lighting is a huge part of the game’s storytelling, with dimly lit walkways dense with shadowy detail adding new levels of horrific realism to an already psychologically traumatic experience.
