Solid Snake’s life was never his own from the moment he was born. He came into the world as a clone, the product of a shady science experiment in a power struggle. From then on, every step of the way, he was manipulated and lied to by the Patriots. He faced ridiculous obstacles from beginning to end, and he died all too young because of circumstances that were completely out of his hand. In spite of everything, however, Snake never gives up, never loses his moral compass, never turns his back on the people he cares about. He’s the only person in the Metal Gear franchise who truly understood The Boss’ will, and for all of these reasons and more, he is a true hero.
