We recently kicked off our countdown of the 30 greatest games of this last decade, and in part 1 of this feature, we talked about ranks 30-16. In this second and final leg of our countdown, we’ll be talking about what think have been the fifteen greatest games to have launched between the beginning of 2010 and the end of 2019.
So let’s jump right in, shall we?
#15. DIVINITY: ORIGINAL SIN II
We all knew Divinity: Original Sin 2 would be excellent, because its predecessor was as well, but we didn’t expect it to be this good. For decades, Baldur’s Gate 2 has been help up as the greatest CRPG of all time, so it really says something about Divinity’s quality that the game immediately joined BioWare’s classic on that pedestal. Overflowing with dense RPG systems and mechanics, bursting to the seams with a plethora of choices that all led to meaningful consequences, defined by witty and sharp writing that really sold the world and the characters living in it, and packed full of content that could keep you busy for dozens upon dozens of hours, Divinity: Original Sin 2 was truly an incredible accomplishment for Larian Studios. It’s really fitting that they will be the ones to bring Baldur’s Gate back from the dead.
