Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Modern Warfare 3 is the perfect cross between the first two games of the trilogy. Modern Warfare 1 focused on a simple yet extremely good storyline with still believable set pieces, while Modern Warfare 2 went all out and gave us a Michael Bay-esque campaign, throwing super dramatic and “are you freaking kidding me?” moments our way all along. Modern Warfare 3 had an excellent story that was easy to digest, and set pieces so good that they could put the entire campaign of MW2 to shame. And with characters as awesome as Soap, Sandman, Yuri and of course, Captain Price to boot, and with an ending as badass as it did have, it turned out to be one hell of a campaign, and one we won’t soon forget.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

For some reason, Black Ops has a lot of goodwill amonst long time franchise fans. Black Ops’ campaign was not as explosive as others in the series, but everyone has to admit it- it was still a very memorable experience. The story was great, a mix between the Cold War and Vietnam war, and some pretty interesting conspiracy theories and mental problems affecting the main character. The presentation was brilliant, and the flashbacks feature worked very well. Some moments, like the Harley Davidson chase scene and the final mission, are some of the best in the series, and characters like Mason, Reznov and Woods made the game that much more unforgettable. This may not be the best campaign in the series, but it’s still pretty awesome.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Yes, we know, the campaign was pretty messed up- the story was a bit too dramatic and unrealistic, but come on- with set pieces and characters as good as the ones in MW2, you can’t possibly say it was a “bad” campaign. Who can ever forget the “No Russian” mission? Or the missile strike above Washington? Or the skirmish in Virginia? Or the 5 second level in outer space? Or the entire last act? Who can ever forget characters as awesome as Soap or Ghost or Captain Price? It may not be the most cohesive campaign in the series, but it sure is extremely enjoyable. It ultimately came down to World at War and Modern Warfare 2 for this spot, but the latter nicked it because of the annoying grenade spamming and infinite respawns in WaW and the epic set pieces in MW2.
