Ah, free games. There’s something wonderful about that phrase isn’t there? I love free games and I’m sure you do too. And no matter how many triple-A blockbuster titles come out, there is always a market niche for these little gems. Free games is a genre that encompasses all genres; there are puzzle games, racing games, shooting games, sports games, stickman games, fighting games, point+click games and downright strange games. In this feature, we will be looking at the top 50 free games that you can play straight out of your browser. If you see something you like, don’t hesitate to click the link and try it. After all…it’s free.

50. Warzone 3: WWII Edition

Tank games are prominent throughout the online gaming universe. This is a fine example of solid, arcade fun. The graphics are very outdated, and repetitive gameplay will eventually get the better of you, but there is no reason for you not to try this decent tank shooter.

49. Casuality

This twisted, fiendishly difficult stickman-killer will satisfy all your needs for gore. The objective of the game is simple; try to kill all the stickmen in the office building without any of them realising. Push people of rooftops and watch elevators plunge with their occupants trapped. Interesting, certainly.

Time to kill.

48. Super Crazy Guitar Maniac Deluxe 3

This funky music game is like a free version of Guitar Hero. Hit the right keys at the right time to get the music right. Unlock guitars and extra tracks. Can get punishingly difficult!

Pluck those strings boy!

47. Cursor Grabber

Have you ever imagined what it would be like to have a little gremlin trying to grab your cursor all the time? No? Well, in this game that is exactly what you do. That little devil’s a tricky one too…he uses vacuum cleaners on your mouse!

46. Table Tennis

This is possibly the web’s best sim of ping pong. Move your mouse to control your bat, and play against AI opponents, who will often beat you the first few goes.

Up against the Frenchman.

45. Motherload

Control your digger and mine ever deeper for untold riches beyond your wildest desires…and uncover a sinister plot about alien life forms. A great time killer, and it is a surprisingly deep game, what with the ability to mod your digger with enhancements and arm it with dynamite and such.

Hitting...the motherload.

44. Tanks

There are many variations of this game, including a recent iPhone hit, but this PC version is just exemplary. Blast your opponents sky high with various weapons on a clear 2D terrain. Just fun.

Fire!

43. McDonald’s Video Game

This is none-too-realistic sim of what it is like to run the fast food giant. Manage finances, slaughter your cows, pump your burgers full of enhancers, then sell your burgers. I have never lasted more than about 10 minutes before going bankrupt, but its hugely entertaining all the same.

No sales for poor Mr Macdonald.

42. Mad Shark

Damn those pesky scientists trying to kill me! Swim as fast as you can away from the evil lab-men by boosting your energy by eating fish as you go- or the humans. Bloody, arcade-like fun.

Hunting. For SCUBA tanks.

41. Matrix Bullet Time Fighting

Gun? Check. Bullets? Check. Awesome take downs? Check. This game does exactly what it says on the tin. Play as some random matrix dude and battle it out with agents in slo-mo. Fun, no?

Flykick. Check.
