A direct sequel to Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night features Dracula’s dhampir son, Alucard, as the protagonist. What made this game well received was that it steered the series away from the standard level-by-level platforming and introduced a new style of open-ended game play mixed with RPG-like elements.
