Super Mario Kart
This is the racing game that spawned millions and I mean millions of gamers to fall in love with the Mario series. Initially the idea seemed quite silly to pit Mario characters racing against each other, but little did they know that idea would just be nothing short of sheer genius. it quickly became one of the best selling games on the SNES. What made Super Mario Kart fun was not the speed (although it was a factor ) but that the player would get items to throw or launch at opponents like turtle shells, and banana peels. The player would also receive stars which make you invincible for a short time, and lightning bolts which temporarily shrink all the other racers, giving you a chance to run over and flatten them.
