The Forest is a slightly different from other horror video games on this list. Essentially, there is no actual storyline, missions or goals. Gamers will start off as the only survivor from a plane crash in which the protagonist is left stranded in a heavily forested island. While roaming through the island, players will be able to setup camp, create weapons and simply survive.
There is a slight catch, the island is inhabited by nocturnal cannibalistic mutants that live within the island through a set of deep caves. Developers hope to have the player question as to who the real enemy is within The Forrest, the cannibals that have lived on the island for generations or you, the newcomer. According to the developers Endnight Games, the cannibals are not a huge threat, in fact there will be times that the simply want to observe you from afar. Even though the game doesn’t feature any missions or goals, there will be an optional conclusion to the game.
